Fennels are definitely more common on italian tables compared to the dutch ones. I am not sure why! They have minimum waste (every part is edible), are healthy and, with their aniseed-like flavor are super versatile: in nice mixed salads they add some crunch; together with olives and orange slices make for a refreshing starter; or they can star in a nice gratin.
The version I am showing you today is super easy and quick (even quicker if you have pre-cooked leftovers): you just add some extra flavor by pan-searing the cooked fennel with some butter. And of course you cover it generously with freshly grated cheese right before serving: sounds amazing right? What are you waiting for? ;D
