Salame di Cioccolato – super easy and light!

by Micaela Harrasser

It’s named salame because of the resemblance between a slice of this, and of the cured meat one. This classic homemade dessert is very popular during the hot summer days, when you feel having a cold & indulgent dessert – that is not tiramisù!

I love how quick and easy is to make – just ten minutes! Then you assemble everything and store in the fridge at least for 4h, to give it the time to fully solidify.

This lighter and dairy free version is as delish as the original, made with butter and sugar. When you buy the dark chocolate, make sure it’s dark (65% and above)! And you can also swap honey with sugar or other syrups to make it vegan 😉

The chocolate: I always go for extra dark (75% and above) chocolate but that’s a personal preference – you can go milder but don’t use just milk chocolate otherwise it will turn out too sweet. I also add a teaspoon of coffee to enhance the chocolate’s flavor, but you can omit it.

The cookies: I always go with the classic Digestives because they are super rich and delicious – you can substitute but try using something flavorful to counterbalance the darkness and depth of the chocolate!

A finishing, nice touch not present in the original version is the addition of nuts – I love pistachios but you can experiment with your favorites! I think it gives it an extra layer of favor and complexity 😀

Can’t wait for you to make it!
